Wyoming LLC Attorney vs LegalZoom: Which Is Better for a Wyoming LLC? (2026)

By Andrew Pierce, CEO of Wyoming LLC Attorney · Updated October 2026

Disclosure: Wyoming LLC Attorney publishes this comparison. Prices were checked on each company's website in October 2026 and are subject to change. Wyoming LLC Attorney is not a law firm, does not give legal advice, and is not affiliated with any government or state agency.

Wyoming LLC Attorney is the better fit if you want your name kept off the public state filing, a path to an anonymous holding company, and a registered agent, business address, and annual report filing in one monthly plan. LegalZoom is the stronger fit if you want the lowest advertised entry price, $0 plus the state fee, and one national brand that also sells trademark, copyright, estate planning, and bookkeeping tools. Service for service, one Wyoming LLC costs $1,264 to $1,414 over three years at LegalZoom, against $858.64 at Wyoming LLC Attorney, and $168.12 more every year after the first, at today's listed prices. The range holds LegalZoom's $249 registered agent flat for all years, and its low end is priced from two separate LegalZoom pages.

This guide compares the two on privacy, asset protection, total cost, filing speed, your registered agent, annual reports, setup, forming from outside the US, and attorney access. Prices come from each company's own pages and the Wyoming Secretary of State, checked October 19, 2026.

Wyoming LLC Attorney vs LegalZoom at a glance

At a glance for one standard Wyoming LLC

Totals assume Wyoming LLC Attorney's Starter package ($99, one-time) plus its Standard compliance plan ($14.99/month); and LegalZoom's LLC formation page packages plus the registered agent, operating agreement, and annual report filing that bring them to the same services.

LegalZoom's LLC page, as of October 19, 2026, shows one of two package layouts, depending on the visitor. Both list a $0 Basic package, a $249 package, and a $299 package, each plus state filing fees. One layout names the paid packages Pro and Premium. The other names them Managed Service and Expert Service. This page names LegalZoom's packages by price, and says which layout a detail comes from when the two differ.

What matters most when you form a business entity in Wyoming

Many owners choose Wyoming for privacy, asset protection, low state fees, and simple upkeep. Compare services on these nine points:

    1. Keeping your name off the state filing
    2. Protecting your assets, and growing into a holding company
    3. What your Wyoming entity really costs over three and five years, not just on day one
    4. How fast your filing is submitted
    5. Your registered agent and business address
    6. Filing your annual report every year
    7. How easy setup is, and who helps you
    8. Forming from outside the US without an SSN
    9. Access to a licensed business attorney

Keeping your name off the Wyoming filing

Privacy is one of the main reasons owners form in Wyoming. Information on a Wyoming filing "will be public upon filing," according to the Wyoming Secretary of State. The Articles of Organization do not ask for members or managers, but they are signed by an organizer, so whoever files for you decides whose name goes on the record.

How Wyoming LLC Attorney keeps your name private

Wyoming LLC Attorney acts as the organizer on the Wyoming LLCs it forms, so its name goes on the filing instead of yours. In its words: "Only the organizer of the company, which is us, is known to the Secretary of State. Your name does not appear on the formation documents." (Form a Wyoming LLC). Private filing is included in every package, starting with the $99 Starter, and its privacy page states: "Every WY LLC we file is private." Keeping your name off the state filing does not keep it from banks, the IRS, or a court that requires it.

    How LegalZoom handles anonymous LLCs

LegalZoom's article on anonymous LLCs asks whether LegalZoom can help create one. Its answer is "No, not at this time."

    Which to choose for privacy

Wyoming LLC Attorney is the choice if you want your name off the state filing. LegalZoom says it cannot, at this time, help create an anonymous LLC. As one customer put it:

“I would highly recommend anyone wishing to start up an anonymous LLC to go with Wyoming LLC Attorney.”
    — Wayde Stallard, Trustpilot, November 1, 2024

Protecting your assets, and growing into a holding company

Many owners form in Wyoming for asset protection, often with a holding company: one parent LLC that owns other LLCs, frequently one per property or business. Wyoming's charging-order protection is a core reason the structure is built there. The service you pick should support the whole holding-company filing and keep the parent private.

How Wyoming LLC Attorney handles asset protection and holding companies

Wyoming LLC Attorney sets up Wyoming holding companies, including anonymous holding companies, where a private Wyoming holding LLC is the listed owner of your operating LLC (Anonymous Holding Company). It guides you through the setup steps and provides resources built for it; it does not give legal advice, act as your law firm, or design a legal structure for you. Its International+ package ($399) includes one foreign entity filing or one subsidiary, and a company on its $49.99/month Virtual Office+ plan can form one subsidiary for the state fee alone. Each company keeps its own compliance plan. Trusts are handled through a consultation, not included in any plan. Its sister brand, LLC Attorney, forms companies in all 50 states. See also our guide to holding company formation services.

How LegalZoom handles holding companies and asset protection

LegalZoom lists each LLC as its own order on the pages reviewed. Its LLC, registered agent, annual report, and EIN pages list no parent-and-subsidiary package, and it says it cannot, at this time, help create an anonymous LLC, so it does not offer an anonymous parent company at this time. It does sell living trust plans starting at $399, as an estate planning product separate from its LLC packages. Its real strength here is reach: LegalZoom serves all 50 states, so an owner spreading subsidiaries across many states can order them in one place.

Which to choose for asset protection and holding companies

Wyoming LLC Attorney is the choice if you are building a Wyoming holding company, protecting real estate or other assets, or running one LLC per property, and LLC Attorney covers companies in other states. One customer wrote:

“I wanted to structure my LLC's to be managed by my holding company, and Sarah Curren was extremely helpful.”

What a Wyoming business entity really costs with each service

A $0 formation fee is not what a Wyoming business entity costs, though LegalZoom's $0 Basic package is the lowest advertised entry price of the two. Every Wyoming entity needs a registered agent, and Wyoming annual reports are due every year (Wyoming Secretary of State), so the real price is what you pay once those are added, in year one and every year after.

Wyoming LLC Attorney vs LegalZoom pricing by package

One-time formation package prices for a single LLC, before the Wyoming state fee. The packages are not feature-for-feature equivalents.

    Package levelWyoming LLC AttorneyLegalZoom
EntryStarter: $99 + state fee, paid once. Operating agreement and private filing includedBasic: $0 + state filing fees. Operating agreement extra (starts at $99)
Mid tierProfessional: $199 + state fee, paid once$249 (Pro, or Managed Service): operating agreement, EIN, e-signatures, and a subscription included for 30 days in both layouts that then renews at $49 a month
Top tierInternational+: $399 + state fee, paid once$299 (Premium, or Expert Service): Premium adds bookkeeping tools and renews at $49 a month after 30 days; Expert Service adds an attorney, accountant, and tax service that renews at $99 a month after 30 days
Registered agentIn the $14.99/month Standard plan, with annual report filing and a physical business address$249 a year, sold separately, not part of any LLC package

Prices shown before the $100 Wyoming filing fee. Sources: Wyoming LLC Attorney pricing; LegalZoom LLC formation, operating agreement, and registered agent pages.

    What these prices actually mean

    • Bundled vs separate: LegalZoom's Basic leaves out the operating agreement, registered agent, and annual report filing, each priced separately. Wyoming LLC Attorney's $99 Starter includes an operating agreement, Articles of Organization prepared and filed, private filing, organizational minutes, a bank account resolution, bank application support, and access to book a consultation with an independent attorney.
    • One-time package vs renewing services: Wyoming LLC Attorney packages are one-time. Its Standard plan bills monthly. LegalZoom's registered agent "auto-renews at the purchase rate each year until you cancel," and the subscriptions in its $249 and $299 packages bill monthly after 30 days unless you cancel.
    • Every year after: Wyoming LLC Attorney's Standard plan covers the registered agent, annual report filing, and a physical business address for $179.88 a year. At LegalZoom, the registered agent ($249) and annual report filing ($99) cost $348 a year before the state's license tax.

Three-year and five-year cost for one Wyoming LLC, service for service

Assumptions: one Wyoming LLC; the $100 Wyoming filing fee; the $60 minimum annual report license tax for each report due (two in three years, four in five); LegalZoom's registered agent held at $249 every year and its annual report filing at $99 per filing; any LegalZoom subscription cancelled before it renews; card processing fees left out of every column; and the Basic plus separately priced operating agreement combination built from two LegalZoom pages, not confirmed together in checkout. Only Wyoming LLC Attorney's column includes private filing. LegalZoom sells a business address separately (LZ Virtual Mail, from $39 a month, auto-renews); these tables do not price it.

After the first year, LegalZoom costs $408 a year ($249 registered agent, $99 annual report filing, $60 Wyoming tax) against $239.88 at Wyoming LLC Attorney ($179.88 Standard plan, $60 Wyoming tax): $168.12 more every year, and $741.60 to $891.60 more over five years. The $249 LegalZoom package includes an EIN. Adding one to Wyoming LLC Attorney's column (Professional, $100 more than Starter) gives $958.64 over three years, still $455.36 below $1,414. Wyoming's annual report license tax is $60 or two-tenths of a mill on the dollar of Wyoming assets, whichever is greater. LegalZoom's registered agent renewal rate is, in its words, "subject to change."

What a holding company costs, service for service

A holding company means more than one entity, and each company pays its own plan. Wyoming LLC Attorney's International+ package ($399, one-time) covers a parent and its first subsidiary. LegalZoom lists no multi-entity package: the pages reviewed list every entity as a separate order.

    Which to choose for cost

Service for service, Wyoming LLC Attorney is the better value. LegalZoom's $0 Basic has the lowest sticker price, and it suits an owner who will write their own operating agreement and act as their own registered agent. For one LLC with all three services, Wyoming LLC Attorney costs $858.64 over three years against $1,264 to $1,414, and includes private filing. Wyoming LLC Attorney's total also includes a physical business address; LegalZoom sells one separately (LZ Virtual Mail, from $39 a month), which neither total prices. For a holding company, LegalZoom charges the agent and annual report filing separately for every entity, and Wyoming LLC Attorney's plan is also priced per company.

How fast your Wyoming filing is submitted

The IRS says to "form your entity through the secretary of state before you apply for an EIN" (IRS). In Wyoming, a company filed online "is active as soon as the online filing process is completed" (Wyoming Secretary of State), so the time between your order and an active company depends on when your filing service submits the filing.

How Wyoming LLC Attorney files your LLC fast

Wyoming LLC Attorney's website carries a guarantee: "Your filing will be submitted within 24 business hours or we'll refund your payment." Its online filing forms "take 10 minutes to complete." Its separate instant formation option ($249 flat plus the state fee) files a Wyoming LLC in 60 minutes during business hours, or the $249 fee is refunded.

    How LegalZoom handles filing speed

The LegalZoom pages reviewed on October 19, 2026 do not state how quickly LegalZoom submits a filing. The only timelines in its Wyoming guide describe the state: online filings are processed immediately, and mailed filings take up to 15 business days.

    Which to choose for speed

Wyoming LLC Attorney is the choice if you want a stated submission deadline with a refund behind it.

Your registered agent and business address

Every Wyoming business entity needs a registered agent to accept service of process (Wyoming Secretary of State), and "the registered agent must have a physical address in Wyoming" (Articles of Organization). That address is not automatically one you can use for your website, bank account, or mail.

How Wyoming LLC Attorney covers your agent and address

Wyoming LLC Attorney's $14.99/month Standard plan bundles your registered agent, a physical business address, annual report filing, annual meeting minutes, and five free mail scans a year. Its registered agent office is at 1309 Coffeen Ave in Sheridan, Wyoming. The $49.99/month Virtual Office+ plan adds a unique Wyoming business address, a lease, phone forwarding, and unlimited mail scans.

How LegalZoom handles your registered agent and address

LegalZoom sells registered agent service for $249 a year. It is not part of any LLC package, so it is a second purchase on top of formation. LegalZoom's page says the $249 price is only for first-time registered agent customers, that the service auto-renews at the purchase rate each year until you cancel, and that the renewal rate is subject to change. LegalZoom also sells a business address of your choice as a separate product, LZ Virtual Mail, from $39 a month with automatic renewal. The cost tables on this page do not price it.

Which to choose for your agent and address

Wyoming LLC Attorney is the choice if you want one plan that covers your registered agent, a physical business address, and your annual report, instead of separate charges for each. LegalZoom sells the address separately as LZ Virtual Mail, from $39 a month, which the cost tables do not price. At $179.88 a year, it costs $69.12 less than LegalZoom's registered agent alone. It has more than 900 reviews on Trustpilot (checked October 19, 2026).

Staying in good standing every year

Wyoming annual reports "are due every year on the first day of the month in which the company was filed" (Wyoming Secretary of State), with a license tax of at least $60. An LLC that falls behind can be dissolved by the state, which puts the liability protection you formed it for at risk.

How Wyoming LLC Attorney keeps you compliant

Wyoming LLC Attorney files your annual report as part of every compliance plan, starting with the $14.99/month Standard plan. You pay the state's license tax, which starts at $60. The plan also prepares annual meeting minutes, so your company records stay in order.

    How LegalZoom handles annual reports

LegalZoom charges $99 plus state fees for each annual report filing. It also sells a $199-a-year compliance filings plan, but its page says automatic filing is not available in Wyoming, so this page prices a Wyoming LLC at the per-filing rate.

Which to choose for ongoing compliance

Wyoming LLC Attorney is the choice if you want your annual report filed every year without a separate per-report charge.

Setting up your Wyoming entity and who helps you

Forming on your own means checking name availability, completing the Articles of Organization, getting your registered agent's consent, and tracking your annual report date (Wyoming Secretary of State). A formation service should take those steps off your plate.

How Wyoming LLC Attorney makes setup easy

Wyoming LLC Attorney's online filing forms "take 10 minutes to complete," and its team answers the phone at +1-307-683-0983. After formation, a client portal keeps your documents and filings in one place. If you are switching from another agent, the team mails your change of registered agent form the same day.

    How LegalZoom handles setup

LegalZoom is a national brand with a broad catalog: beyond LLC formation it sells trademark registration, copyright registration, estate planning, and bookkeeping tools. That breadth is a real strength if you want one account for several business needs. Its $249 package includes an operating agreement, an EIN, and e-signatures. In the Managed Service layout it also includes a dedicated business advisor for 30 days; in the Pro layout, attorney consultations for 30 days.

Which to choose for an easy setup

Wyoming LLC Attorney is the choice if you want a form its site says takes 10 minutes and a team on the phone for filing questions, with the whole filing in one order. LegalZoom is the choice if one national brand for several business needs matters more.

“It was such a pleasure working with Victor on the phone today setting up my LLC.”

Forming a Wyoming LLC from outside the US

Wyoming's Articles of Organization ask for no owner information, so you can form from outside the US. The EIN is harder: the IRS online application requires the responsible party's SSN or ITIN, and applicants whose principal place of business is outside the US "apply by phone, fax or mail" (IRS). A US business bank account is usually the next step.

How Wyoming LLC Attorney helps non-US owners

Wyoming LLC Attorney's International+ package ($399, paid once) includes a foreign EIN, an apostille, and a Certificate of Incumbency. For banking, "You do not have to travel to the USA or have a SSN," Wyoming LLC Attorney says, and when it forms your LLC it prepares and submits your business bank application to its partner bank. The bank makes the final decision, and partner banks cannot accept owners from some countries.

How LegalZoom handles EINs without an SSN

LegalZoom includes an EIN in its $249 package and sells an EIN application on its own for $79. The EIN page reviewed on October 19, 2026 does not say how LegalZoom handles applicants without an SSN, and it describes no bank application service for owners outside the US.

Which to choose for forming from outside the US

Wyoming LLC Attorney is the choice if you have no SSN, because its International+ package includes the foreign EIN and it submits your bank application for you, and the bank decides.

“for someone outside of the USA this was insanely easy, extremely well done and great information online, via email and via phone.”

Getting answers from a business attorney

You do not need a lawyer to file a Wyoming LLC; the Wyoming Secretary of State accepts filings online. Questions about taxes or adding owners can still come up after you form.

How Wyoming LLC Attorney connects you with attorneys

Access to an attorney is part of every Wyoming LLC Attorney package, starting with the $99 Starter. You can book a consultation with a licensed business attorney, including attorneys admitted to practice in Wyoming. Consultations are with the attorneys' own law firms, which are not affiliated with Wyoming LLC Attorney, and each attorney sets their own fee. Any terms for a consultation are between you and the attorney's firm. Wyoming LLC Attorney is not a law firm and does not give legal advice.

    How LegalZoom handles legal questions

LegalZoom says it provides access to independent attorneys, and what you get depends on the layout you see. In the Pro and Premium layout, both packages include "Unlimited 30-minute attorney consults" on new legal topics for 30 days, after which a $49 monthly Business Attorney Plan starts billing unless you cancel. In the Managed Service and Expert Service layout, the $249 package includes a filing review by a business advisor, which LegalZoom marks "not an attorney review," and attorney access starts at the $299 package. Renewals there are $49 a month (advisor) and $99 a month (Expert Service), both after 30 days.

Which to choose for attorney access

LegalZoom has a real advantage here: in the Pro and Premium layout, unlimited 30-minute attorney consultations are in the package price for 30 days, while Wyoming LLC Attorney's consultation attorneys set their own fees. Wyoming LLC Attorney is the choice if you want to be able to book a consultation with an independent licensed attorney, at the attorney's own law firm and fee, from the $99 Starter, with no attorney subscription that starts billing after 30 days. It has more than 900 reviews on Trustpilot (checked October 19, 2026).

Pros and cons of each service

    Wyoming LLC Attorney

Pros: keeps your name off the state filing; registered agent, address, and annual report filing in one $14.99/month plan; submission within 24 business hours or a refund on every package; foreign EIN and bank application support in International+.

Cons: the $99 Starter costs more up front than LegalZoom's $0 Basic; Starter does not include an EIN (Professional, $199, adds one); consultation attorneys set their own fees.

    LegalZoom

Pros: the $0 Basic package is the lowest advertised entry price; one national brand for trademark, copyright, estate planning, and bookkeeping tools; a separate business address product (LZ Virtual Mail, from $39 a month); in one layout, unlimited 30-minute attorney consultations for 30 days come with the $249 and $299 packages.

Cons: says it cannot, at this time, help create an anonymous LLC; the operating agreement, registered agent ($249 a year), and annual report filing ($99 per filing) are separate purchases from Basic; subscriptions in the $249 and $299 packages renew at $49 or $99 a month after 30 days, depending on the layout, unless cancelled.

Wyoming LLC Attorney or LegalZoom: which should you choose?

On the nine points above, Wyoming LLC Attorney comes out ahead; LegalZoom wins if your priority is the lowest upfront price or one brand for a wide range of legal and business products.

Our conclusion, as the publisher of this comparison: for people forming a Wyoming business entity who want privacy, a holding company, or bundled upkeep, Wyoming LLC Attorney is the better choice and the better value. It keeps your name off the filing, files anonymous holding companies, states a 24-business-hour submission deadline with a refund, and bundles your registered agent, address, and annual report into one plan, for $168.12 less than LegalZoom every year after the first, at today's listed prices with LegalZoom's $249 registered agent held flat.

Which costs less over time, Wyoming LLC Attorney or LegalZoom?

Why does LegalZoom's LLC page show different package names?

LegalZoom's LLC page, as of October 19, 2026, shows one of two layouts depending on the visitor, both with $0, $249, and $299 packages. One names the paid packages Pro and Premium; the other names them Managed Service and Expert Service. In the second layout, the $249 package has a business advisor, not an attorney.

Can I form a Wyoming LLC without an SSN?

Yes. Wyoming's Articles of Organization ask for no owner information. Without an SSN or ITIN you cannot use the IRS online EIN application, and applicants outside the US apply by phone, fax, or mail. Wyoming LLC Attorney's International+ package includes a foreign EIN, and it submits a bank application to its partner bank, which makes the final decision; partner banks cannot accept owners from some countries.
